PMDC Motor Controller

The speed control of a PMDC motor using a dsPIC30F4011 was demonstrated in this project. PWM is generated by the controller and used to operate the motor. The duty cycle of the PWM can be changed to change the motor's speed. The proximity sensor in the motor is used to monitor the motor speed. It is possible to perform both open-loop and closed-loop operations here. The motor speed is manually controlled in open-loop operation. In closed-loop operation, the motor's speed is automatically adjusted in relation to the specified speed. This development kit was used to create and develop the PMDC controller.

The dSPIC30F4011 DSP Processor controls the PMDC motor. A step-down transformer is used to convert 230V to 24VAC. To get DC voltage, this 24V AC is rectified and filtered. The power circuit receives this DC voltage. In the power circuit, IRFP250 MOSFETs are used. The PWM is generated by the controller. The driver circuit receives this PWM. The TLP250 is used in the driver circuit for PWM isolation and amplification. The power circuit receives the driver output and uses it to turn on and off the power devices.
